  1. “Collage: Refuge of the Compositionally Disabled?”

I would have thought the opposite. One needs a good sense of composition in order to create a collage that’s visually pleasing or at least resembles art, doesn’t it?

I’m thinking of all the collages my children made in elementary school. Some turned out very well, others looked like they just spread glue all over construction paper and flung clippings from magazines onto it. The latter came about because (I think) they were just fed up with collage assignments, and they knew the teacher wouldn’t grade them on appearance.

Everything is collage. We’re disabled because there is no vacuum or refuge. Watch the news with the sound off and it looks like they just spread glue all over construction paper and flung clippings from magazines onto it. Composition is now impossible or at least dishonest.
Or read the other way it is meant as self effacement. Everything I do is splat-c splat-v.
